  • Nazi Germany lost more then 5.5 million persons listed as combat deaths.
  • The Soviets lost about 10.7 million combat deaths and
  • The US combat deaths reached 416 thousand deaths.

Impressive numbers, but when viewed as a percentage of the nations total population to include civilian death, the US got off on the cheap side with less then one third of a percent of its population lost. The Soviet lost 13.7 percent of their total population and Germany's total population fell by 10.5 percent.
