In 1858, observed cells dividing under the microscope & deducted that ALL cells come from other living cells. Who ever put this answer was completely wrong.

He helped contribute to it because he was examing the inside of the cork also known as the cell walls. He couldn't figure out what a real cell looked like because the cork cells were all dead.

Though van Leeuwenhoek actually did not invent the first microscope, he made lenses with tremendously improved magnification and designed improved microscopes.

His microscopes allowed him to make many discoveries about the microscopic world. He was the first person to see single cell microscopic organisms, but had pointed his microscopes at hundreds of specimens and all manner of plants, animals and minerals.

He also discovered bacteria, free living and parasitic microscopic protists, blood cells, sperm cells, egg cells, fertilized cells, blood cells, microscopic nematodes, rotifiers, infusoria, spermatozoa, and the protozoans that he called, "little animacules."
