In 1914: Marne (Aug), 1st Ypres. In 1915: Gallipoli(Feb), 2nd Ypres, Tannenberg (Tannenburg). In 1916: Verdun (Feb-Dec), Jutland (April), Somme (June), Cambrai (Dec). In 1917: 3rd Ypres (Passchendaele) (June).

I would also say that 1918 on the western front was massive as well, some incredible battles were fought, sacrificed and won there.

There are many in WW1: Verdun & the Somme as well as 3 Battles of Ypres. Tannenberg & the Masurian Lakes in the East, as well as the Brusilov Offensive. There was also fighting in the Middle East, Gaza was a notable Battle. The only major sea battle was Jutland in 1916.

There were not a lot of specific battles, but one important one was the battle of Somme. This battle had lots of deaths and casualties. The western front was in France and Belgium.
