Mostly, if it isn't all, Germans detested the fact that their government signed the Treaty at all...

6,600 billion was going to be payed as reparations, to the Triple Entente. France, Britain and other countries were given colonies of Germany, land was constantly being taken from them. The Rhineland was abouts to be demilitarised (by Germany)... and these are just a few of the terms of the Treaty...

The reparations, alone, was depressing the country. The money in Germany had become almost useless and people were poor with the taxes.

France wanted Germany to pay (hence the Treaty), but Britain was worried by how harsh the terms of the Treaty was..

The depression of the Treaty, combined with that of when the World Market had crashed, caused the country to be vulnerable. It's people were desperate for change.... this was when Hitler (former Soldier) could made his mark!

The rules of the treaty were as followed:

£6,600,000,000 in reparations

No air force

Only 6 battleships

one hundred thousand soldiers

Alsace-Lorraine had to be given back to France

Give up it's Empire

No German soldiers allowed to be in the Rhineland

The treaty punished the wrong people. They blamed everything on Germany. The treaty damaged Germany enough to cause strong enough to seek revenge. They didn't try and help the newly elected German government who had nothing to do with the war. They could control Germany, hyperinflation was in the war an then there was passive restance (not co -operating , but not actullay fighting. they had to live of life savingsand blamed the new government

The Treaty of Versailles had section on punishing Germany with loss of territory and reparation payments. This led to worldwide economic depression and Germany became unstable. This led to Hitler taking over Germany and eventually most of Europe and starting World War II.

The Treaty of Versailles blamed Germany solely for World War I. It charged them with reparations that are estimated to have come close to 132,000,000,000 gold marks. Germany lost one eighth of its lands, all of its colonies and all of its overseas investments. The Draconian elements of the treaty devastated Germany and made them resentful, paving the way for the Third Reich.
