What were the movements in theater in the 16th century?

Answer:

16th Century Theater Movements

The 1500s is most closely associated with the Elizabethan period of drama. With Elizabeth I on the throne, the arts flourished giving rise to such greats as Phillip Marlow, Ben Jonson and that other guy, William Shakespeare. This movement slid into the Restoration period of theatre as you get into the 1600s.
