It depends on the antibiotic some are thought to have no effect and others are thought to have a detrimental effect. You should always inform your MD if you are having unprotected sex before taking any medication.

Now, be honest and let him or her explain your options and possible effects of the medication you used.

While some drugs cause no harm to the fetus, many drugs such as antimalarials and anti epileptics can cause fetal malformations. That is, can cause child defects. Hence, before taking any drug, always consult your gynecologist or physician, during pregnancy.

Many health care providers will not schedule the first visit before 8 weeks, unless there is a problem. If you're healthy and have no complicating risk factors, you can expect to see your health care provider: every 4 weeks until the 28th week of pregnancy. then, every 2 weeks until 36 weeks.

Make sure to avoid the following: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, prescribed for hypertension or congestive heart failure, can cause miscarriage or deformity in the baby.

Decongestants pseudoephedrine and phenylephrine (Sudafed, DayQuil, Claritin-D), especially if taken during the first trimester, may cause stomach defects or affect blood flow to the placenta — through some doctors will recommend in limited amounts in the second and third trimesters. Also, avoid cough and cold meds that contain alcohol or NSAIDs.

Isotretinoin (Accutane) for cystic acne raises the risk of miscarriage and physical and mental defects in babies.

Methotrexate, used to treat psoriasis and rheumatoid Arthritis, increases the risk of miscarriage and birth defects.

Depends on the medicine. Some can be taken w/o risk, others should not be taken at all during pregnancy. Check the warning labels and/or consult your doctor.
