What will happen when Jesus returns?

Wow what a question! Well I would recomend you read revalation in The Bible but that can be very confusing! I dont think we know exactly what will happen. But some talk of a tribulation. Where the anti christ will come with a whole army of horrible things (demons etc) and I think then christians wont experience the nicest of times really, its then you will have to show your true faith in God and if you would be willing to die for him. But whatever happens when jesus comes just remember God in everything and he will guide you, think about it personally I would rather suffer a few years on earth, and spend eternity in heaven with God etc. than give in the evil on earth and spend eternity in somewhere I dont even want to think about. :) just concentrate on living a God life now, dont worry about the end times till they come :) x

According to Jesus' chronological description of His return... the unprecedented global distress of the Great Tribulation shall bring the imminent threat of the cessation of all life to the planet.

"For then shall be Great Tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, THERE SHOULD NO FLESH BE SAVED: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." (Matt.24:22)

This will be the time of the gathering of the warring nations of the world to Armageddon. In other words... when Jesus returns, it will be WORLD WAR III.

Jesus is coming back to earth "in wrath"... and "making war" -- Rev.19:11 -- TO PREVENT THE END OF THE WORLD by man's waging of nuclear World War III.

"...the armies which were in heaven followed Him upon white horses... and out of His mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it HE SHOULD SMITE THE NATIONS: and He shall rule them with a rod of iron: and He treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God." (verses 14-15)

Jesus will bring "peace" to the earth... but only after He has subdued man's Satan-led global genocide attempt -- THROUGH WAR.

"...I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the Dragon, and out of the mouth of the Beast, and out of the mouth of the False Prophet... which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of the Great Day of God Almighty... and he [should be THEY, the three unclean spirits] GATHERED THEM TOGETHER INTO A PLACE CALLED in the Hebrew tongue ARMAGEDDON." (Rev.16:13-16)

"And the Beast was taken, and with him the False Prophet that wrought miracles before him... These both were cast alive into a Lake of Fire burning with brimstone." (Rev.19:20)

The result of it will be that "war will be outlawed" by the King, and global peace will be established on earth: "...nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Isa.2:4)

"...the Government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called... The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His Government and PEACE there shall be no end... The zeal of the Lord of Hosts will perform this." (Isa.9:6-7)

But, initially... full-blown no-holds-barred world war will be extant on earth when Jesus returns.

Prophecy reveals that: "...the sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, BEFORE the great and the terrible Day of the Lord come." (Joel 2:31)

The "Day of the Lord" is the prophesied time when Jesus returns to earth in wrath. And the earth will be a dark place... no sunshine and no moonlight.

"...let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the Day of the Lord cometh, for it is nigh at hand; a Day of darkness and of gloominess, a Day of clouds and of thick darkness..." (Joel 2:1-2).

"Woe unto you that desire the Day of the Lord! To what end is it for you? The Day of the Lord is darkness, and not light." (Amos 5:18)

"Shall not the Day of the Lord be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?" (Amos 5:20)

So, while the earth will be a dark and gloomy place just before Jesus comes back... the Bible describes Jesus this way:

"...His head and His hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and His eyes were as a flame of fire; and His feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace... and His countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength..." (Rev.1:14-16).

Therefore... what it will look like on the darkened earth when Jesus comes back is, that it will look like the sun is pushing through the clouds and approaching earth!

"A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth..." (Joel 2:3).

"For our God is a consuming fire." (Heb.12:29)

Is this question meant to be asking when is the time Jesus will return? Because the answer to that is not known by men or angels. He could return anytime, even tomorrow.

The chronology of the prophecies regarding Jesus' return, reveal that He will come back at a time when man's sinning [general hatred and lack of love and repect for his Creator and himself] shall have brought about the imminent threat of the cessation of all life on earth [Matt.24:22].

He says that man's false religions, wars, famines, diseases, etc... will eventually cause a Great Tribulation [time of unprecedented global trouble and distress] unlike anything men have experienced before... or ever will again.

He tells us that this Great Tribulation will have to be shortened... by a series of "heavenly occurrences" -- the darkening of the sun and moon, stars falling to earth [meteors, asteroids?], earthquakes, "...the powers of the heavens shall be shaken..." (Matt.24:29; see also Seal 6 of Rev.6).

He tells us: "...THEN shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven..." (verse 30).

According to Bible prophecy, that's when Jesus will come to earth again. Like the "cavalry coming over the hill in the nick of time" in the movies... just in time to save the earth from becoming "without form and void," again.

Jehovah's Witnesses believe that Christ has already 'returned' --- INVISIBLY --- with Kingdom power in 1914. (Just like when "God walked in the garden of Eden" in Genesis 3:8, and then held 'court session' in verse 9-13. They did not see God, because no man can see God and live.) (Also in Gen 11:5 God "came down". Yet no one saw him, it was invisible. The 'confusion of the languages' was the proof that God had indeed come down and accomplished his mission to have mankind 'spread' across the globe, instead of staying-put.)

Before 1914 Jesus sat at the right hand of God; then God's Kingdom by Christ was established in the heavens in 1914. His rule includes the earth. (This is established from Bible prophecy in Daniel & Ezekiel.)

What has happened since he returned?

In Stages:

1) Christ Jesus has commandeered the most extensive personalized preaching campaign in all human history. (To let people everywhere know of the Kingdoms arrival.) Nothing like it has been accomplished by any other religious group; despite their being around for hundreds or thousands of years.

Jehovah's Witnesses have proclaimed the Kingdom's establishment in the last century all across the world --- reaching every nation; every country; nearly every household; and that --- numerous times.

2) Christ Jesus has accomplished raising up a worldwide religious brotherhood of people who have 'learned no more war'. None of the 7+ million will bear arms against each other, or anyone else for that matter. By this Christ has 'identified' who his true Christian followers are to the whole world. Jesus said in John 13:35: "By this --- ALL WILL KNOW --- that you are my disciples; by the love among yourselves." (Everyone around the globe knows that Jehovah's Witnesses will not bear arms.)

What will still happen?

In stages:

3) Christ will separate the 'sheep from the goats'.

4) The goats will go off into destruction (at Armageddon). a) All False Religion will be destroyed by the Governments of earth. (Rev chapts 17 & 18) b)Then All earthly Kingdoms will be removed by Jehovah's Son, Christ Jesus. (Daniel 2:44) c) Satan will be abyssed for a thousand years.

5) The sheep will be PROTECTED; and enter into an earthly Paradise. Christ will restore obedient mankind (the sheep) back to God's very original purpose when He created mankind. It will take approx a millennium.

6) Satan will be Destroyed for good; never to return. (But no eternal torment for him.)

These are all the things that Jesus will accomplish when he returns. Everything will happen in stages, not all at once.

7) At the end of the thousand years; Christ will hand all the results of his Kingdom return, back to Jehovah God.

Love and Peace and Obedience will reign once again all across Jehovah's Universe.

There are many ideas or interpretations of what will happen when Christ returns. Yet, it is always wiser for one to read it in the Scripture for themselves to try to understand the events prophecized to come.

Scripture reveals Jesus will come again, one more time, quite visibly and with a loud sounding of the 7th Trumpet of Revelation 11:15-19. Paul describes those dead in Christ will be first to rise from the grave and meet their coming Lord in the sky along with those alive on the Earth who remained faithful to this moment (1 Corinthians 15:51-52; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-17). These become the firstfruits of God and future bride of Christ, changed forever into spiritual children of the God Family, to rule with Christ for 1000 years on Earth.

At the time of the 7th Trumpet and return of Jesus, the 3rd Woe is also happening - the nations of the Beast and hordes of the East will gather together at Megiddo, in the Valley of Jesreel. Also, the last 7 Vials of God's Wrath are being quickly executed. These are short and increasing afflictions upon the people and the Earth. Then the Armies will converge on Jerusalem to challenge Christ, who will utterly defeat them. The Beast and False Prophet will be cast into the Lake of Fire - 2nd death for these two. Satan will be bound for 1000 years. The Millennial Rule now fully begins with those who survived this tremendous catastrophe. Israel and Judah are reunited and live in Israel. Jesus is the King of the World and will restore fully the Kingdom of God. The Father will write His Law of Love upon the hearts of mankind who will no longer be ignorant of His Law or need others to try to interpret it for them.

It is highly suggested that one read Revelation, Daniel, and Matthew 24 to get the fuller picture of all the events (other Prophecy too). The Book of Revelation has 'intermissions' within the story line that discuss other events happening and can get confusing. Primarily, from the 7th Seal of Revelation 8 that has the 7th Trumpet Plagues, begins the One-Year period of the 'Day of the LORD' which contains these 7 trumpets and at the 5th trump, the 1st of the 3 Woes begin ending at the 7th Trumpet, the last Woe and the final 7 Vials. A bit confusing but a close read should help delineate this timeline.

Opinions on this may vary; my understanding is that God will NEVER come to Earth. Or into this Universe. It doesn't make much sense, if you consider that God created the entire Universe. That would be like a painter going into his painting. God can and will send His representatives, but not come personally.
