The most effective repellent would be a dog, But if you don't have one, or are not planning on getting one, then here are some tips to keep those pesky felines away!.

1. Don't leave bare soil open, put some mulch down and cover that up, cats seem to love laying in fresh soil.

2. Try to keep an eye out for them, since cats hate water, try to keep something present so you can spray or squirt them, after 3-4 attempts of resting there they'll most likely give up and find a new place to linger.

3. Pickup a cat repellent from a local gardening store.

4. Rumors are that cat's don't like the smell of citrus, try placing orange or lemon peels around the garden, or spraying it with a citrus fruit scented spray.

5. (this one is the pricey one) If you're serious about your garden, there are motion sensitive ultra sonic devices that you may be able to purchase, which you would place next to or in your garden, and when a cat or animal enters its radius, it emits a high frequency pitch which humans cannot hear. There are also motion sensitive sprinklers which will do the same.

6. There's also another choice, though harder to come upon, some pest control stores sell, what seems to be predator blood, which basically is blood of a bigger, meaner animal, or at least the scent of the animal, the way it would work is, you place it in your garden, the cats try to come in, smell the scent, feel threatened and move to a new safer location.

7. Install an electric fence (used for cattle, pigs, goats, sheep) about 6 inches off the ground all the way around your garden...

8.Purchase a live trap and deliver the animals to the local shelter..

9.If its a neighbors cats then tell the neighbor to keep their animals confined to their own yard,if they dont then call animal control and file a complaint..it is illegal to allow animals to roam free on someone elses property.

How do you keep cats off the bed when not home?

Shut the door, but if they really want to get on the bed they will claw up the carpet at the door trying to get in. If the cat is shedding you could brush them every day to keep hair off the bedspread. I let my cat do what she wants to do. She's a cat!
