Pale gums are a sign of poor blood circulation, typically from a loss of blood. This can be from a flea or tick infestation where the parasites are actually removing blood from the blood supply, or worse this could be a strong indicator of internal bleeding. In older dogs (over 7 years old), and especially in large breed dogs, this can indicate a bleeding tumor. Your dog should be taken to a veterinarian as soon as possible.
This could be a sign of anemia and needs to be addressed by a vet immediately.
Possibly anemic, maybe heavy worm infestation - take a stool sample to the dog's vet.
It can be caused by many fleas or ticks that suck the dog's blood. If the dog's gums are white it means he has lost it's blood circulation and probably won't live much longer if not treated. Bring it to the vet immediately!
Normal, healthy gum color on a dog or cat should be pink. Dark red, blue or white gums indicate that there is something wrong and your animal should have immediate medical attention. White gums generally signify a lack in oxygen, anemia, or some kind of organ deficiency. (all of these must be determined by actual blood tests, as white gums are nothing more than a symptom and cannot be used as grounds for a definite diagnosis) If your animal is showing gray, white gum color, call your vet immediately.
Your dog sounds very dehydrateds, dogs gums turn white when they get severly dehydrated, your pet probably has some kind of illness the is keeping your dog from eating and drinking, it may be as simple as just have some bad teeth that need to be pulled, or it could be many other animal diseases. I had my Shih-Tzu die from the pet food recall and had to put her to sleep, and both my cats were effected but they were only level 1 instead of 5 which is kidney renal failure, my cats are ne not, You need to take you dot to the vet as soon as possible, DO NOT WAIT ONE MORE DAY, THEY CAN DIE OF DEHYDRATION VERY EASILY BECAUSCE THERE BODIEDS ARE SO SMALL AND THEY CAN GET KIDNEY FAILURE AND ANEMIA IF YOU DONT GET THEM HELP FIRST THING THURSDAY OR YOUR BABY MIGHT DIE. IF YOU ARE LOW ON MONEY THERE ARE A LOT OF VETS THAT WILL TAKE PAYMENTS AND IF YOU ARE ALREADY ESTABLISHED THEN MOST LIKLELY YOUR VET WILL LET YOU PAY HIM WHEN YOU GET PAID. YOU, YOUR FAMILY AND OF COURSE YOUR SWEET DOG WILL BE ADDED TO MY DAILY PRAYERS AND HOPEFULLY GOD WILL KEEP YOU BEST FURRY FRIEND AROUND A LOT LONGER!! HUGS, LIBBA
Pale or whitish gums means your dog is in big trouble and she needs to see the vet TODAY! If your vet is closed then find the nearest emergency clinic - call for directions - and get her there NOW! Do not wait any longer. She is anemic and needs help. You did not say how old she is but it could be any number of things - worms - in particularly hookworms that are microscopic, a slow bleed somewhere in the body (tumor, etc.) or some major problem like flea anemia. She may even need a blood transfusion.
Severe anemia from any number of causes, the most likely one, some form of leukemia, it happened to my cat right before we found out, I'm so sorry, better have the poor little thing checked out. Feed it some beef liver regularly also, my cat lived for several years after diagnosis and the iron really perked her up a bit. I shall pray for your dog. Jo.
If a dog has pale gums, it means that the dog is dehydrated.
Take your pet to emergency right now, white gums are a sign of bleeding.
Possibly dehydration, but it would be best to consult your vet.
Poison.
A dog with pale gray gums is sick. The dog could have low blood pressure, internal bleeding, anemia, or be experiencing shock.
You need to take your dog in to see a Veterinarian immediately. The white gums tell you that your dog is in shock or losing blood somewhere in his or her body. Get to the VET!
Bleeding gums in your dog should be checked by a veterinarian. This will need to be evaluated and treated to see what is causing it.
Take it to the vet. Because if your dog has white gums it isn't getting oxygen
it depends if the dog has gray on its muzzle or if you look in his or hers jaw look at the gums if gums are dark pink its a young pup if light pink older dog
having white gums is unhealthy. if the dog is still happy and not hurt while eating, than its not having any pain. you should still get them treated by a vet or it will cause serious damage upon the dog. HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO THE POOR DOG.
no its natural for a dogs gums to turn black some times they are born like that if it turns any other color other than pink or black then you have a problem then you should see your pets veterianarian ASAP.
Yes, dog bones are they are GREAT for teething dogs they help your dogs gums! exept trkey, chicken, or any bird type bones they will splinter in your dog's throat and stomach and cause internal bleeding and death
Underactive thyroid, maybe. Did you actually see it happen? Dogs can pass out from too much pressure on the throat area...say if the leash was too tight.
No, it is the white mark on a Cattle dogs head above his eye's in between his ears (referred to as a Bentley) that's signifies the breed. The mark can be many shapes or sizes.
