If sunlight could not reach the Earth, the Earth would quickly freeze. In fact, one of the theories about why ice ages happen involves cloud layers that reflect more of the Sun's light back into space.

1 of 2 things could happen, I think the first more likely. We would drop into an ice age and life as we know it would change dramatically. The second we could possibly turn into another Venus as sunlight does not preclude infrared radiation, so the planet could theoretically start to heat up and again become unlivable.
