One might think that no babies would mean that the species would die out. many species do not reproduce by having "babies" in both the plant and microscopic animal kingdoms. As examples amoebas divide producing two identical sister amoebas. This also happens with bacteria

In the plant kingdom seeds could be covered under the general thought of "babies" but they plants also reproduce by bulbs, runners, suckers and rhizomes. All of these are part of the original plant. Plants can also be grafted into other plants of the same or different species.

While such reproductive strategies do not work for larger animals the examples given do just fine without babies.
