Your car would sputter like you put water in the tank. Luckily, if you put in regular gasoline afterward, your car will forgive you. I found this out the hard way in my 1998 Ford Taurus Station Wagon.

The car survived running 2 times on e85 and then regular gas. (Not the broken radiator, though.)

Can a 93 Ford Ranger run on e85?

I don't believe so , 1999 was the first year that Ford Rangers offered the 3.0 L FFV engine option that allowed you to run E85 or regular unleaded 87 octane , or any combination of the 2 fuels

What happens if you filled unleaded fuels car with ethanol?

If it was E85,,,I don;t think it would run and the fuel system would need to be drained. If it were E10 or E15,,,it would run fine. Another answer: Run the fuel, and change your engine oil immediately after it's burned. The real risk of using E85 in a non-Flex Fuel vehicle is water contamination resulting in separation of the water/ethanol mix and gasoline. The difference with an FFV engine is that it uses soft nitride coatings on the internal components to protect against corrosion in the event of the introduction of water-contaminated E85 fuel.

Can a 1999 ford ranger run on E85 fuel?

If you have the FLEXIBLE FUEL version of the 3.0 L engine . Look for a sticker inside your fuel filler door indicating it is a FFV or check your VIN . If the 8th "character" of your VIN is a "K" it is a flexible fuel vehicle . You can run unleaded gas - 87 octane , or E85 ethanol , or any combination of the two fuels .

Can a 1998 Lincoln Navigator run on e85?

The 1998 Lincoln navigator IS NOT a flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV).There are a few major differences between FFVs and non-FFVs.One is the elimination of bare magnesium, aluminum, and rubber parts in the FFV fuel system.Another is that FFV fuel pumps must be capable of operating with electrically conductive ethanol instead of non-conducting dielectric gasoline fuel.FFVs fuel injection control systems have a wider range of pulse widths to inject approximately 40% more fuel.FFVs use stainless steel fuel lines, sometimes lined with plastic, and stainless steel fuel tanks in place of terne fuel tanks are used. (terne is a coating used on steel tanks)In some cases, FFVs use acid-neutralizing motor oil.For FFV vehicles with fuel-tank mounted fuel pumps, additional differences to prevent arcing, as well as flame arresters positioned in the tank's fill pipe, are also sometimes used.E-85 ethanol is used in engines modified to accept higher concentrations of ethanol. Such flexible-fuel vehicles (FFV) are designed to run on any mixture of gasoline or ethanol with up to 85% ethanol by volume. The 1998 Lincoln navigator engine is not one of them.
