The average electrical bill in BC is overall, reasonable when compared to places like Alberta. While the stepped rate encourages residents to conserve and benefit by reducing their overall cost, in Alberta we have been deregulated causing serious problems for consumers in Alberta. I own property in both BC and Alberta and, in comparing the electrical bills it is blatantly obvious Albertans now have to fill the pockets or Corporations gone private. What is the difference? For me, an average bill is in the area of 40% higher in Alberta almost entirely due to charges that can't be found on BC electricity bills. They have names like: Municipal Franchise fee (what is that?) Distribution fees. Administration fees and so on. It seems a fee is made up to create the revenue stream demanded by the corporations, never mind the consumer has hardship, real hardship paying this (Thanks Ralph Klein! A really good idea wasn't it?)

Anyway, I'm in the process of moving to BC :)
