Just a hunch, but your little one is probably a little frieghtened of it's new surroundings. Give your little one some time. Do not be picking it up all the time. It is scared. I know this might be hard for you to leave it alone for a while, however just observe it and let it smell your hands etc. so it can get used to you, as it's new owner.
