When did My Chemical Romance form?

My Chemical Romance were formed in the backlash of 9/11, so it would have been the end of 2001/beginning of 2002. Gerard Way called up Matt Pelissier and told him that he was working on a new band. The two met up at a coffeehouse, then Matt told Gerard to get in touch with Ray Toro.

My Chemical Romance formed around October 2001, shortly after Gerard Way saw the 9/11 attacks and decided he wanted to try make a difference in the world.

They Begin a week after 9/11/01. So about 9/18/01.After Gerard Way (lead singer/founder) Witnessed the events of 9/11 in New York in person, he decided to start a band. A week later, My Chemical Romance was created.They truley began when there first album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love" was sold, because that was when they were becoming truly famous. They got even more famous when their second album "Three Cheers for Sweet Revnege" and their third "The Black Parade" came out. A lot of people said that MCR truley "began" when "the Black Parade" was out because they say it was a fresh start, it wasn't just a new album, but MCR transfomed into a new band, inside of their original My Chem.

Though Gerard and Mikey are brothers, Gerard went to school with Ray Toro, Mikey met Frank through Eyeball Records (or they went to school together, I can't quite remember..)

And I'm not too sure about Matt.MCR met Bob when they went on the Taste Of Chaos tour with The Used (Bob was The Used's front of house sound guy).

If you mean the band "My Chemical Romance", they formed in 2001-2002 after Gerard witnessed the 9-11 attacks. He was doing art and he realized that art wasn't going to get him anywhere. Their first CD "I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love" features the song that they wrote in response to the terrorist attacks. "Skylines and Turnstiles". As the time went on, they slowly picked up new members, Bob replacing Matt.

Well it all started on September 11, 2001 when the Twin Towers were bombed. Gerard Way, the lead singer, decided then and there that he wanted to do something meaningful; to make sure that he did something with his life. He had gone to art school before that and made comic books called "The Umbrella Academy" but they never got really famous. He, along with his brother Mikey Way, Frank Iero, Ray Toro, and Bob (can't remember his last name?) made the band.
