This could be from many different things. If a friend told me she/he had Back pain when breathing I would ask how long they had it and if they any have other symptoms such as fever or cough (do you smoke)? If an answer is yes then go see your doctor. For me if the only symptom was the pain and it was minor I would probably go see my doctor if it lasted more then 2-3 weeks. If it was severe I would go right away
