If you have a <10 MP camera, this is impossible. If you have a >10MP camera, set the image quality lower in settings (depends on the camera)

It's extremely unlikely that this is true. Having used both cameras, the Canon is FAR AND AWAY a better camera. However, megapixels have little to nothing to do with sharpness. Most likely, what you're seeing is a result of the way the images were taken. Use a tripod and a fast shutter speed and you shouldn't have a problem.

Not really. 1.3 mp is probably average at best. Many phones have 2.0 mp cameras and sony even has a phone with a 3.2 mp camera that is only 30$ if you're eligible for an upgrade.
