Here is how you do this. Get the insurance in the name of the owner and list the people or person who drives the car as a driver. Usually the driver can have a driver's license from another state and or live in another state. Some insurance companies will allow someone to insure a vehicle that they have care custody and control of regardless of who owns the vehicle.
yes
Depending on what state you are in, you don't need a drivers license to purchase a car. You only need a drivers license to drive it. If you do have a car titled in your name, you will still need to insure it, whether or not you drive it.
no you can't Its not in your name so you can't get insurance from a car that is not titled in your name
As the registered owner you can be held responsible and financially liable for the actions of the drivers you allow to operate your vehicle. It would therefore be advisable to maintain your auto insurance.
The titled owner
If you drive the car then you need car insurance.
No yes. the titled owner should be listed as an aditional insured.
This isn't really enough information to answer your questions. If you still living with your parents and are under 18 the vehicle really needs to be titled in your parents name and then it can be insured in their name as well with you are the driver. If under 18 you are not an adult and cannot sign legal contracts. Have your parents contact your insurance company for their recommendation as well. Most companies want you to have your own insurance if you are an adult and have the vehicle titled in your name only. The problem is that you still must be listed on each others insurance policies as drivers if you live in the same household.
Most insurance companies will not sell a policy to a 17 year old. It is also not a good idea to have a vehicle titled in the name of the 17 year old. The reason for these are that an insurance policy is a legal contract and a person 17 years old is not a legal adult and therefore not able to sign a contract.
not if its 50cc or less, but you need a driver's license and the moped needs to be titled, registered, and insured.
Call your agent, there are some cases where you can.
If the drivers now reside in California, then they will be required to turn in their Canadian licences and obtain California licences to replace them; if they still reside in Canada and only use the car for short periods in California this is not required but then the car would have to be titled/registered in Canada. As to the car insurance, I believe it is always purchased based on location where it is garaged.
