Of Australia's major cities, Canberra is the most likely to receive snow, followed by Hobart, but these falls are usually very light.

Every winter and also during cold snaps year round. Australia is a very large and diverse nation. Whilst many parts of Australia are very hot, be it in the desert or the tropics, and hence do not experience snowfall, there are also many parts of Australia that do receive snow. New South Whales, Victoria and Tasmania receive snow every winter in both the mountains and cooler inland areas. In fact, it is said that the Victorian High Plains (a huge, elevated expanse of land in North-Eastern Victoria) have more land under snow than Switzerland does.

The only places snow has been known to fall in Western Australia are in the Stirling Ranges, in the south, and occasionally on the Porongorup Range, also in the south.
