Last battleWednesday April 16, 1746. The Battle of Culloden. Fought between the Highlanders loyal to Bonnie Prince Charlie and BRITISH (that's important) Government troops. There was a small skirmish later on that year but it's not counted as a battle as such. Further reading - 'Culloden' by John Prebble. If you count the Falklands Islands as British soil the last battle on British soil would have been the Falklands War Friday April 2nd 1982 - June 14th 1982

The battle of Britain refers to the air campaign over England during World War II. The German strategy was to neutralize the Royal Air Force (RAF) in preparation for a landing, the thinking being that success would be better achieved without the interference of British air forces.
