Polar bodies are formed after each meiotic division. In human oogenesis you will form two polar bodies because there is only two meiotic divisions.

A polar body is formed during the creation of egg cells in females.

An egg cell only has half of the DNA of a normal body cell. However, when the cell divides to create two "daughter" cells with a half amount of genetic material, the cytoplasm (the bulk of the cell) does NOT divide in half. Instead, most of the cell's contents go into one of the resulting cells (the future egg cell), and the other receives only a little with its half of the DNA (the polar body). This is important once the cell is fertilized; an egg cell is enormous, and contains a lot of structures and instructions for a new fertilized egg to grow and develop. An advantage is created for the egg cell that does go on to be fertilized, making the division process more worthwhile, as the better supplied egg cell has a better chance of surviving and thriving in development. The polar bodies will disintegrate quickly.

In short, they have no purpose but to create an advantage for actual egg cells.

Polar bodies are daughter cells that are created during meiotic divisions. The purpose of the polar is to get rid of the 23 chromsomes of the oocyte so it is able to fertilise with a sperm to form an zygote and in turn take some of the cytoplasm of the ooctye.

How many polar bodies are produced during spermatogenenis?

The products of meiosis, besides the daughter cells, are polar bodies. In oogenesis, the polar bodies are called primary nuceli and secondary nuclei respectively.

What's the homeostasis of polar bears?

Homeostasis is the ability of animals to maintain a consistent body temperature. Polar bears live in subfreezing temperatures, yet maintain warm bodies. This is because polar bears are endothermic, which means they have a form of insulation. Polar bears have fur and fat which protect their skin and internal organs.Ê
