Australia's main school holidays begin in December and continue through most of January. There is another week or two at easter, depending on the state and the school. Two or three weeks' holiday are in winter (June-July), and the next two-three weeks are during September-October.

∙ 12y agoWe get Summer holidays so we can celebrate Christmas and have a break before the new school year starts.
Children generally start them right before Christmas-so this year 2009 we started our summer holidays on December 18th and go back to school on feburary 2nd this varies because private schools finish about two weeks earlier then public schools.
We also get have 2 semesters a year and 2 terms to a semester every time one of those terms ends we get two weeks holiday. theres ten weeks to a term. Hope this helps you-Jan25
