Normally, the female Whitetail Deer will go into heat in November, the exact timing depending on the latitude. I'm not sure if the reason for the variation is hours of sunlight or the descending temperatures. This rut lasts about a week. The gestation period is 200 days, which will mean that the first batch of fawns are born in late May to early June. The females that are not impregnated during that first November rut will go into heat again one month later, ie in December. Then a second, but smaller batch of fawns will be born in late June or early July.
I saw one last night while patrolling my park that looked to be 12-18 inches tall. It was so skittish I could not get any closer to be sure. I thought it was a large cat at first.
About 25 feet. coolio huh?

white tail deer and black bears
How big is the deer? The size and weight will differ around the country but a typical mature white tail will weigh between 125 and 250 pounds.
over 1,000,000 feet! lolOne killed in Greene county of Mississippi pushed 450 lbs.
how big can white tails get
yes they do,besides the elk and black bear the black tail deer is the next big game we have on the island.but really they aren't that big.
some deer are big and some deer are small
whites have big white fluffy tails and are generally smaller. Their antlers are more strait forward were as a mules are forked and very wide. Mules tend to be much more aggressive. The mule deer also has a very dark pelt and very large ears. (hence, the naming)
Average shoulder-height for a white tail is three to four feet tall, rarely up to five. Even more rarely do white-tails ever get much taller than five feet, even with the big bucks.
