Usually, the next day. However, Rinse your mouth out with a little warm water and salt (a few dashes) in a glass. Just swish it around gently. Rinse your mouth out with a salt and water mixture aprx. Three times a day. Your dentist should have given you an antibiotic to fight any type of potential infection that could arise as well. Wait 24 hours before rincing. The reason for that is not to dislodge the blood cloth that forms during the few hours after the surgery. After 24 hours, it is recommended to rince with a disinfecting solution, preferably water and salt.
The dental surgeon who extracts the tooth should tell you. If he or she didn't, you should call and ask.
Gently rinsing with warm salt water (1 teaspoon salt in 1 ounce of water) is universally recommended .
You should definitely not use Alcoholic mouth wash, as alcohol can prematurely dry out the blood clot.
Besides that there are two mouth washes that your surgeon might recommend:
BreathRX or Peridex.
Peridex requires prescription in the US and is commonly used post/pre op for oral surgeries.
BreathRX is off the counter . Some doctors recomend BreathRX and claim that it has reduced infection and dry socket incidents.
The surgeon might recommend that they be diluted with water.
More information:
I found some research papers on pubmet talking about the effectiveness of ingredients in perides and BreathRX post op oral surgery care. I am not a doctor . Just a patient who diligently researched the web for reliable sources.
I would check the warm salt water suggestion. 1 teaspoon of salt to 8 oz of warm water. However, this would definitely NOT be recommended to people suffering from hypertension. (High blood pressure) And smokers beware! Smoking after an extraction can cause dry socket, which is very painful! Be patient and wait it out.
Your oral surgeon will specify whether a mouthwash is necessary or acceptable after the surgery.
Avoid irritating mouthwash like Listerine after surgery.
The dentist might specify a prescription or non-prescription oral rinse, especially a fluoride rinse. Follow the instructions exactly.
yes, it totally fine to use mouth wash whenever you get your wisdom teeth pulled. Because it will help your gums where they are pulled and also it will clean out the wholes they will leave after they have been pulled.
It is important to ask your dentist or oral surgeon about specifics regarding mouth wash and after care. Many mouth wash formulations can dry out tissues and impede healing, even promoting the development of dry socket- which can be painful and is more likely to lead to infection.
The safest bet is most often mildly salty warm [not hot] water to lightly roll around your mouth, starting the next day- and don't spit forcefully.
Some oral rinses that promote salivation and diminish dryness in the mouth, such as Biotene PBF. This may or may not be appropriate for an individual situation, but it is important to consult with ones provider.
My dentist told me not to because the alcohol in Listerine interferes with clot formation. I would ask your dentist how long to wait before resuming your routine.
I would use a plastic syringe.(monoject syringe)
No.
Definatly :)
mouth wash or breath mints
A dry mouth allows a lot of bacteria to grow in the mouth and on the teeth because there is no saliva to wash them away and help clean your teeth.
Yes it can be found in your mouth that's why businesses now do mouth swab drug testing,,, you can use mouth wash in brush your teeth but, don't forget mouth wash has alcohol in it so it may show up also!
You should not rinse your mouth if the hole from getting your wisdom teeth pulled is not yet healed. It could wash out the blood clot and cause a dry socket.
You should always brush your teeth for 2 Min's then use Mouth wash
You should floss, use mouth wash, and don't eat sugar.

No if you do you will get dry socket and that is the most painful experience I ever had. Getting the wisdom teeth out was nothing compared to the dry socket. I fell down in the shower with pain and I had to go to the doctor everyday to get novacaine packed in my tooth it was so painful please dont smoke or drink through a straw after surgery.
Regular brushing, flossing and using mouth wash has proven to be effecting in whitening teeth. Brands such as Colgate are very effective for this job.
