When did Auburn High School in Auburn Massachusetts change their mascot from the Dandies to the Rockets?

It was in 1991 the actual vote took place and the name changed in 1992. The class of 1993 is the last class to wear rings with the Dandies Name on it. The vote to change the name was by a narrow margin.
It was upsetting to many of who graduated when it was the Dandies because only the students enrolled at the time had a say.
Why the vote, well there had always been talk of changing the name ... but the final straw came when the boy's Ice Hockey Team called themselves the "War Pigs" as they were the uncontrollable wild groups of the school and thought Dandies wasn't a true representation of their play on and off the ice.. However this was not the cause of the vote, as this was expected from the "cement head" Hockey Players. The issue really came to the surface in 1991 when the girls Field Hockey Team began to call themselves the "War Pigglets" and it was decided that at the very least there should be a vote to reconsider the name.... In 1992 the name change was officially adopted.
As member of the Class of 1993 I was sad to see the name Dandies go.
