Sorry Day in Australia is a day where we say sorry to all the aboriginal people for stealing their land and destroying their way of life. It is to remember the Lost Generation, the people who were forcibly taken from their families and forced to assimilate into Australian culture.
Through DNA testing, scientists have determined that the first aboriginal people in Australia originated from the Indian subcontinent. When they migrated to Australia, they arrived via a series of land bridges.
Given that there are hundreds of Aboriginal dialects in Australia, there is no single answer to this question.
She supposely said that all aboriginal women are the ugliest. But it was just a rumour.
Through DNA testing, scientists have determined that the first aboriginal people in Australia originated from the Indian subcontinent. They cannot agree on when. Equally reputable groups put the figures anywhere between 5 000 and 40 000 years ago.
There are over 200 aboriginal languages spoken in Australia. You'd have to specify which language you're talking about.
Given that there are 200-250 aboriginal languages in Australia, there are many ways to say greet others in the aboriginal language, and they usually do not mean "hello".Some of these are:werte (Arrernte)palaya (Pitjantjatjara language - means "good" and is considered a friendly way to greet people)yaama (Gamilaraay Yuwaalaraay)
they don't. Unlike the situation between the Maury and the pakiha ( white person) in NZ I would say that aside from having seen the occasional bit of aboriginal art and a few well meaning articles in newspapers and on television 99% the Average Australians are blissfully unaware of any thing that has to do with aboriginal culture aside from a seemingly endless array of racist joke's. I agree. Having lived in Australia I can say that Aboriginal culture influences Australian culture very little. Kids in Australia are thought about Aboriginal culture throughout their schooling, which means they are somewhat well educated on the topic of Aboriginal culture. However, aside from this education, influences of Aboriginal culture can not really be seen in everyday Australian life.
