George Harrison was a school friend of Paul McCartney; they met riding the same bus back and forth every day. When McCartney joined John Lennon's initial band the Quarry Men in 1957, fourteen-year-old Harrison began tagging along to their shows, bringing his guitar. If another member didn't show up, he was allowed to fill in for them.
Harrison could already outplay the rest of the Quarry Men's guitarists, but wasn't considered at first for membership because of his young age. Lennon thought of him as a "bloody kid" who tended to get in the way, but was gradually won over; Harrison would play "Raunchy", a mutual favorite song, anytime Lennon wanted. Over time the rest of the band quit, leaving just Lennon, McCartney and Harrison.
Ringo Starr replaced Pete Best as the Beatles' drummer on 16 August 1962.
In the early sixties, Richard Starkey, aka Ringo Starr, was a well-respected drummer in Liverpool before he met The Beatles in Hamburg. He was a considerably better drummer than their original drummer, Pete Best. Ringo and George Harrison quickly became friends, John and Paul began contemplating asking Ringo to join the band permanently. Starkey began sitting in for Best on occasion. The Beatles ended up returning to England and firing Best in August of 1962. Starkey's first Beatles gig was on August 18, 1962, at the Horticultural Society Dance at Port Sunlight. Many Best fans were angry about the drummer swap and stirred up trouble at the Cavern Club the next day. It got so bad that George Harrison received a black eye amidst the shouting of "Pete forever, Ringo never!"
John Lennon started the band that became the Beatles, while still in high school in 1956.
Paul McCartney joined the Quarry Men, after an introduction to John Lennon, in July 1957. The Quarry Men ultimately became the Beatles in August 1960.
Linda McCartney died on April 17, 1998 at the age of 56.
Linda McCartney was never a Beatle, and neither was Yoko Ono. Both sang backup on Beatles records, because their men wanted them to do so.
Against George Martin's better judgement, Pete Best was replaced with Ringo Starr as drummer on the 4th of September, 1962.
Paul McCartney did not join The Beatles, he formed it with John Lennon, Ringo Starr in 1957.

Ringo Starr was the last member to join, shortly before they recorded their first single, "Love Me Do". (Former drummer Pete Best had failed the band's EMI audition, and was to be substituted on their records with a studio drummer. The band decided it would be better to replace him completely. Best had never really been close with the other Beatles; Starr fit right in with them.)

Not always, no. Before joining what became The Beatles, Ringo was the drummer in another band called Rory Storm and the Hurricanes, which was a skiffle group out of Liverpool. At the time, Pete Best was still The Beatles' drummer. Both bands played gigs together, and at times when Best missed shows, Ringo would fill in. He was eventually asked to join the band.
