veterans day is actually considered a federal holiday. this was known in the early to mid 1900's when woodrow wilson wanted it and it was officially a federal holiday. i do know though that it was originally called armistice day for the anniversary of the armistice or treaty that was signed to end world war 1 until an emporia Kansas man named alvin king had the idea that there would be plenty more wars to come and that

all veterans who fought should be honored for their bravery. so that was when it was passed as veterans day to honor all veterans.
