Best Answer

The Jamamadi [Yamamadi] first were mentioned in New World historical sources in 1845. The Yamamadi belong to the Arawakan language group who are believed to have inhabited South America for thousands of years. Their traditional territory is in northern Brazil in the area between the Juruá and Purus rivers. The Mamoriazinho, the Pauini and the right bank of the Xiruã formed natural borders within that area.
