The Heat were an expansion team whose first season in the NBA was 1988. Their first regular season game was played on November 5, 1988 against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Heat lost 111-93 and went on to lose 17 consecutive games before winning their first game in franchise history, 89-88, against the same Los Angeles Clippers.
