Catholic Answer:
There is no known date when, or if, Mary died. There are two views, both acceptable by the Catholic Church:
Mary did not die but was assumed, body and soul, into heaven.
Mary died and, within a short period (probably ~ 3 days) her body was assumed into heaven to be reunited with her soul. Tradition says that when Mary was near death the apostles were summoned. All arrived in time except Thomas, who arrived three days late. When they took Thomas to the tomb, it was empty. Only her burial cloths remained.
Non-traditional AnswerIt is possible that Mary died in 52AD. In his book 'The Marian Conspiracy" , Graham Phillips that:-The disciples ....arrived in Britain in AD37. Mary, it would seem, died in AD52, perhaps around the age of seventy-five.

He furthur says on page 303 that the Virgin Mary was buried in Wales at Llanerchymedd Church dedicated to the Virgin Mary, and that it once contained Mary's remains but they were removed when the vikings invaded in 10th century.

The Doctrine of the Assumption states that Mary was assumed into heaven, body and soul. However, it does not state that she was assumed alive or died and her body assumed into heaven later. One of the apocryphal (non canonical) scriptures states that she died and when they went back to the tomb 3 days later, the body was gone and only the burial cloths remained. According to the Vatican, either explanation is acceptable and not excluded by the doctrine. We know that Mary had two tombs, one near Jerusalem and the other near Ephesus, or, at least, these are claimed to be her tombs. Whether either was the actual tomb or whether either was ever used is not known.
Mary was assumed, meaning she was taken into Heaven. Jesus ascended, meaning he rose into Heaven by his own power.
The date of her passing is not recorded.
We do not know when Mary died or if she died. She was assumed, body and soul, into Heaven and did not undergo corruption. We do not know if she was assumed directly or died and was assumed a short time later. Both views are acceptable to the Catholic Church.
We do not know if the Blessed Virgin ever died, although most theological thought favors her death (such as Pope St. John Paul II), and then her assumption into heaven three days later. A smaller group in the Church and the Eastern Church refers to her "dormition" meaning that she "fell asleep and was raised to heaven. The Holy Father and most of the Church favors the fact that she died in imitation of her Son, but her body never decayed, and she was raised to heaven. Although we do not know the exact date, the Church celebrates this on 15 August.
Mary was taken body and soul into heaven. That is what is celebrated on the Feast of the Annunciation. The doctrine leaves it open as to whether Mary was taken to heaven before death or shortly thereafter. Most theologians believe that she died a natural death and was then assumed into heaven.
The Catholic Doctrine of the Assumption does not specify whether Mary was assumed alive into heaven or died and a short time later her body was assumed. Either interpretation is acceptable.
We have no idea how Mary died, if she did die. She probably died of complications of old age and was taken body and soul into heaven s short time later.
The Virgin Mary never died. She was Assumed physically into Heaven in the same way in which the Prophets Elijah & Enoch were.
