When did the Wright brothers fly their first airplane - the Wright Flyer?

Answer:
On 17 December 1903, Wilbur and Orville Wright made the first recorded controlled flight in a powered aircraft, for a distance of 120 feet. Orville was the pilot. The flight lasted for twelve seconds.

It was the first official "engine-powered, controlled fixed wing, heavier-than-air" flight and was completed at Kill Devil Hill, Kitty Hawk in North Carolina.
