3500 BC is one estimate, however, archaeologists point to the early Sumerians in 4,000BC. It arose appropriately in Sumer in the area now known as Iraq. The Sumerian civilization consisted of independent and fortified city states. These cities were often at war with each other. Agriculture was the economic basis of the Sumerians.

an era that was created between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. the word Mesopotamia means "the land between the rivers". Most of the people who lived there got there water, and most of their hygene from the rivers, they also fished. Hope this helps, im only a student!
