When Time Switches to DST

For the US and Canada, the time advances one 1 hour ahead in March and reverses 1 hour back in November.

Daylight Saving Time always begins on the second Sunday of March and ends on the first Sunday of November.

For the 2009 year:

March 8th, 2009 at 12:00 a.m. - you set the clock ahead one hour.

November 1st 2009 - you set the clocks back an hour.

Note: There are 2 states and or regions who never switch times - Arizona (except for the Navajo Indian Nation) and Hawaii.

in the united states, one's clock will traditionally be reset twice a year: once in the fall, set back an hour, and once in the spring, set forward an hour.

this is why there is grace and peace and harmony in the world, because we all pointlessly play with our clocks twice a year and lose sleep, gain it, lose it again, and generally mess up our whole week because we set our clocks back an hour instead of forward like we were supposed to. i love america.

Saturday November 3rd 2012 at midnight. They move one hour back. An easy way to remember is "fall back", "spring forward" I like this move better because you gain one hour!
