When you put your mower up for the winter you should shoot a few squirts of oil into the combustion chamber and park the piston at the top. When spring comes, start it up to blow out the oil then shut it down and change the plug.
You had to unscrew the plug to squirt the oil in and, in doing that, you ruined the crushable gasket that seals the plug and you probably oil-fouled the plug when you started the engine to blow the oil out. Don't fool with it because a new plug is too cheap to justify the aggravation of re-using the old plug.
If you are a commercial mower you should probably change the plug about every 4 oil changes...check the owner's manual.
