When do you think God is coming back?

From the biblical perspective on this question regarding Jesus' return with the Kingdom of God, "...of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but My Father only." (Matt.24:36)

Or: "...be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh." (Matt.24:44)

Or: "...the Day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night..." (I Thess.5:2).

Answer:

I think Jesus Christ is coming back when He says He will: Immediately after the Great Tribulation and after the "darkening of the earth with clouds," which will cut the Tribulation short.

"Immediately after the Tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:

"AND THEN SHALL APPEAR THE SIGN OF THE SON OF MAN IN HEAVEN: and THEN shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and THEY SHALL SEE THE SON OF MAN COMING IN THE CLOUDS of heaven with Power and Great Glory.

"And HE SHALL SEND HIS ANGELS WITH A GREAT SOUND OF A TRUMPET, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other." (Matt.24:29-31)

Jesus lists the chronology of the events for us to know "when" to look for Him. They are the "Great Tribulation" and the "Heavenly Signs"... after which we know to "look up for our salvation." For it won't be until THEN that He is coming back.

Of course we don't know when that day will be... because it hasn't happened yet. The Great Tribulation isn't upon us yet... which is prophesied to go on for 3 1/2 years after it starts:

"...all the world wondered after the Beast. And they worshipped the Dragon [Satan - Rev.12:9] which gave power unto the Beast: and they worshipped the Beast... And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months [3 1/2 years]." (Rev.13:3-5)

The Great Tribulation and the "Heavenly Signs" are symbolized in the chronological "fifth and sixth seals" of chapter six in the book of Revelation.

They haven't occurred, yet.

That leaves all the rest of Revelation to deal with the "seventh seal" -- the "Day of the Lord" that's prophesied throughout The Bible... which is the time of Jesus' return.

But, before the Day of the Lord [Jesus' return]... the world will be covered in darkness [the Heavenly Signs]:

"...I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, BEFORE the Great and the Terrible Day of the Lord come." (Joel 2:30-31)

The world has yet to witness the prophesied Great Tribulation... which, after 3 1/2 years will be cut short by the prophesied Heavenly Signs. Jesus tells us that by the time these global events come to fruition... all life on earth will be in peril of ending:

"...except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened." (Matt.24:22)

So, by the time this global condition exists... it's doubtful that very many people will even know what year it is, much less, what day.

Cities will be ghost towns... the haunts of thieves and killers [Isa.6:11-12; plus, witness those devastated southern ghost towns in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina]. People will, literally, head for the hills, in an attempt to get away from the results of a failed global economy and bankrupt society and cities with their utilities and modern conveniences cut off.

When we see all that [if we're alive to see it]... and the world grows dark... and the stars of heaven fall to earth -- we can THEN know to look up in desperation for our salvation.

"And when these things begin to come to pass, THEN LOOK UP, and LIFT UP YOUR HEADS; for YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWETH NIGH." (Luke 21:28)

When it happens, we certainly won't know what day of the week it is... and probably what month or year.

But, that's when the Bible says to look for Jesus' return... and not until then.

I believe what the Bible says on this matter... therefore, that's when I think Jesus is coming back.
