When do you turn OD off when pulling a loaded horse trailer and when do you turn it back on when driving flat on the freeway?

Answer

if vehicle is automatic, it will automatically select the gear you need you do not need to turn od off unless it is trying to change gears to often

If the vehicle is changing gears (in and out of O.D.) a lot, which it would be most of the time on the highway towing a horse trailer especially on hilly terrain, then you are better off turning the O.D. switch off to improve the life of your transmission.
