The best age to breed a dog is at the age of 3-4years old. If your were to breed them at a young age they are possible to die because they are still devoliping and if your were to do it at on older age 6 and older they can have a chance of dying their self! The above answer is grossly incorrect, not to mention poorly written. The minimum age to breed a dog is 2 years, even if the dog has reached "puberty" before then. They will not die, of course if they are to become 'active', but a responsible breeder will not breed their dogs until the age of 2. The maximum age varies, depending on the breed and condition of the animal, not to exceed 10 years- 8 years of age being the standard. Again, taking part in sexual activity would not cause death in a healthy animal at any age.

∙ 13y agoDepending on the size, age, and make of the dog, I would say around 2-3 years is good to start breeding. Make sure you look into it, and read first. All dogs are different, and if your not home during the birth(research gestation) it could harm the puppies.

∙ 13y agoTwice per year. We just had one, and so about 6 months from now. Believe me. You cannot mistake when it happens to her. They bleed constantly, making a mess, and they swell, to enormous proportions. It is not, at all, anything you want happening, twice per year. Now, I must warn you, if you think that her puppies will make money for you, then just take a walk through your local animal shelter. Her puppies, money wise, are not worth a penny. The value, however, of a pit, is not monetary, but of an inexplicable nature.......Chuck.

∙ 11y agoYou don't want to breed them on their first heat, it is unhealthy. Their second heat on is better, just make sure you skip a heat after she gives birth to allow her body to return to normal.
