All saber-tooth mammals lived between 33.7 million and 9,000 years ago. The Saber Tooth Tiger lived during the end of the Quaternary Period, and during the Ice Age, and could be found all over the world. It was thought to have become extinct because of the rising sea levels at the end of the Ice Age which covered the tigers' environment. It went extinct because of the temperature changes. It became extinct after the last ice age, because its habitat changed from woodland to grassy plains, and being a heavily built ambush predator, it was unsuited to the new environment, and was unable to adapt to it fast enough to survive as a species.
