When is Canadian Thanksgiving celebrated? In: Thanksgiving |
[Edit] |
Canadian Thanksgiving is the 2nd Monday in October.
In 1879 the Canadian Parliament originally Thanksgiving placed on November 6th. In 1957 the government established the holiday on its present date, the second Monday of October.
And in case anyone is wondering why the date is so much earlier in Canada than in the USA? It has to do with the shorter growing season in Canada because it is that much farther NORTH. The harvest is earlier, and so is the first snow fall.
