It was going to be filmed and released in July 2010, following James Cameron's release of Avatar. However following the death of the last survivor of the Titanic, it was seen as being a contradiction of the storyline and also insensitive.

It has been indefinitely shelved and may never be released. Fox said it was among the worst films they had ever read.

Also I watched(different user) a different trailer and at the end it said that it was going to be released as titanic 2 Jack is back and released on 4th December 2012 but who knows but it looks really sad because Jack turns nasty and acts like her old husband to be and starts trying to hit and punch her also Rose has blonde hair which doesn't seem right and I wish he stayed the same and wasn't nasty

Jack is not who he said he was. In the last movie Rose throw her necklace in the water. The people wanted to find it instead they found Jack. But when the found Jack Rose was dead. Now he is in a whole new world and Rose is not blond.
It is her granddaughter.
