Around Christmas. Usually dealers are very quiet at Christmas and if you are good at bargaining and bartering, you'll normally get a good chunk off the car if you are willing to wait and play the game. Dealers need sales at Christmas because the sales people have bills and gifts to pay for as well.
Most people are out buying gifts rather than cars. Always shop around and you can create a price war with the dealers. Get all quotes in writing and don't fall for the Part-Exchange -- Finance -- New Car trick. Get the figure for everything separately.
