If your doctor told you that you are due on September 26 and the conception date is January 3rd but you only had sex on December 23 how likely is it that you got pregnant on December 23rd?

It doesn't look that likely. I'm due September 26th and my estimated conception date was January 5th. If the ultrasound is done in early pregnancy (First Trimester) the accuracy of determining a conception date is within 5 days before or after the conception date, so you have a ten day window. I am not a physician, I am a social worker. Going with what little I know, I can tell you that doctors are not able to absolutely pinpoint the moment of conception any better than they pinpoint the moment of birth. I'm sure that their estimated birth dates are close, and on average (for thousands of births averaged out) are probably spectacularly accurate. But they are only estimates based on your doctor's experience, and whatever can be observed of the baby's development so far. Have you ever heard of a woman delivering a perfectly healthy baby several days before, or several days after, the "due" date? Of course you have; we all have. So I can't put a number on the chances, but I'd say the chances are reasonably good that Dec 23 was the day.
