The Inheritance cycle was "originally" planned as a trilogy. In an October 30, 2007 , Paolini revealed that the third book would have been so large that it would need to be published in two different volumes. Brisingr is scheduled to be released on September 20, 2008 The release date for book four is unknown. Empire is not the name of the third book as many thought it would be. The new name 'Brisingr' is from the ancient language used in the series and means fire.
