It gives away the sex of the baby. XY or XX! X= Female Y= Male. Another one is whether the baby will have any type of genetic disorder/disease/condition. For example if three X's are present in a karyotype it gives away that the child has a syndrome thats called triple x syndrome. Or a karyotype with XXY sex chromosomes gives away that the child is male and has a disease thats called klinefelter's male. I hope you find this useful :).

Karyotyping looks at the complete set of chromosomes. It can detect large-scale abnormalities, such as missing/extra chromosomes or whether large pieces of chromosomes have been rearranged. It cannot detect any of the many, many genetic disorders which are caused by a single gene, several genes or gene interactions. Examples of these would be cystic fibrosis, sickle-cell disease and dwarfism.
