After the Belgian Revolution took place in 1830-'31, the Belgian government declared itself no longer to be part of the Netherlands, which it was since Napoleon lost at Waterloo in 1815.

There is no specific date, however the National Holliday is held on 21 July, in 1831 being the date the first king (King Leopold I) was crowned.
