Sunblock (also commonly known as sun screen, sun tan lotion, sun cream or block out) is a lotion, spray, gel or other topical product that absorbs or reflects some of the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation on the skin exposed to sunlight and thus helps protect against sunburn. Skin lightening products have sunscreen to protect lightened skin because light skin is more susceptible to sun damage than darker skin, a number of sunscreens have tanning power to help the skin to darken or tan.

The first effective sunscreen may have been developed by chemist Franz Greiter in 1938. The product, called Gletscher Crème(Glacier Cream), subsequently became the basis for the company Piz Buin (named in honor of the place Greiter allegedly obtained the sunburn that inspired his concoction), which is still today a marketer of sunscreen products. It has been estimated that Gletscher Crème had a sun protection factor of 2.

It is not clear as to who is the inventor of the first-ever sunscreen, but Milton Blake, a chemist from South Australia, is widely acknowledged as the first one to come up with (although unsuccessfully) a sunburn cream in the 1930s.

Eugene Schueller, founder of L'Oreal make up company and also a chemist, is also often recognized by other sectors as the father of the sunscreen invention, also in the 1930s.

Why use natural sunscreen on your body rather than regular sunscreen?

Well, natural sunscreen has many useful benefits that normal sunscreen does not have. A natural sunscreen for example can provide much vitamins and mineral that are beneficial for your skin in many ways. The regular sunscreen on the other hand can contain many ineffective chemicals and is not as effective as a natural sunscreen. http://www.kitchenstewardship.com/2010/07/20/natural-sunscreen-review-do-mineral-based-sunblocks-work-2/
