Bullwinkle J. Moose made his parade debut in 1961 and quickly became a crowd favorite. He was retired in 1983, in dire need of repair. A redesigned, second Bullwinkle appeared with has friend Rocket J. Squirrel (aka "Rocky" the flying squirrel) for the parade's 70th edition in 1996.
Bullwinkle and Rocky are not in the lineup for the 84th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2010.
