When was the barcode introduced?

Answer:

Answer

It is generally accepted that Norman Joseph Woodland and Bernard Silver invented the first barcode on October 20, 1949. On that date they filed a patent application with serial number 122,416 which became Patent Number 2,612,994. The first barcode scanner was put into use in June of 1974. That barcode scanner was manufactured by NCR Corporation. The scanner was installed at Marsh's supermarket in Troy, Ohio. On June 26, 1974 the first product with a barcode was scanned at the check out counter. The first item scanned was a 10-pack of Wrigley's Juicy Fruit gum.
