I have been in the video business since the 60's, most of the early days dealing with commercial video products. The first commercial/industrial unit was the Sony 1/2" black-and-white unit. This was a two-piece unit consisting of a camera head and a recorder section. It had no playback and did not have "rewind" capability. A small crank was used for rewind. I sold several to the military and the education market. It was a "skip-field" unit, meaning it only recorded alternate "fields" and not the entire television frame consisting of two interlaced fields... Past history....
